About the AAA U13 Airdrie Jr. Xtreme

Welcome to the U13 AAA Jr. Xtreme, the premier under-13 elite hockey program under the banner of the Airdrie Elite Hockey Committee. Nestled in the heart of Airdrie, Alberta—a community renowned for its passion for the game and unwavering support for young athletes—we’re dedicated to forging the next generation of hockey stars. Our team isn’t just about lacing up skates and hitting the ice; it’s about building unbreakable character, fostering lifelong friendships, and igniting a love for the sport that will last a lifetime.

The Jr. Xtreme program was born from a vision to elevate youth hockey in Airdrie, drawing on the expertise of seasoned coaches, former pros, and community leaders who understand the unique demands of AAA-level play. Competing in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL), our roster of 11 and 12 year-old phenoms showcases raw talent honed through rigorous training regimens that blend high-intensity drills, tactical strategy sessions, and skill-building clinics. From explosive breakaways to airtight defensive stands, our players embody the “Xtreme” spirit: relentless, resilient, and ready to dominate.

What does it take

to be on the Xtreme?

Clear communication and expectations are highly valued by the Xtreme organization, and we want to ensure all athletes are made aware of the expectations coming into Training Camp.

The AAA Xtreme roster will be selected based on the following criteria:

  1. Ultra-Competitive: Physical and mental effort with a relentless obsession to be successful and disciplined.

  2. IQ & Hockey Sense: High level decision-making and execution under adverse conditions through developed habits.

  3. Puck Management & Puck Patience: Possess an outstanding panic scale and consistently keep pucks alive through puck distribution or puck ownership.

  4. SAQ & Escapability: Ability to move at a high pace with body control, dynamic mobility and conceptual awareness.

  5. Innovation & Deception: Courage to try and execute creative tactics and skills with unpredictability.

  6. Stick Skills: Offensive and defensive proficiency to move, tip, handle, shoot, elevate and check pucks.

  7. Strength & Power: Size is not a factor and players are able to exert their power on opponents and do so consistently shift after shift and game after game.
